Please read Colossians 1:24-29, Colossians chapters 2, 3, and 4. So much here, I can’t get all my thoughts into a little blog post! What are you thinking about as you read today?
Paul is always praying that people would have understanding, but also he shows them practical ways to do it.
“I rejoice in my sufferings” Colossians 1:24
Paul is rejoicing in his trials! The Colossians need not be offended at the Word. Please take Paul’s advice in your own life today – do not take upon offense that isn’t yours. Live at peace.
The mystery has now been revealed (1:26) and now we are complete in Him (2:10). Doesn’t it follow that we are incomplete without Him?
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:12-17 NKJV
We can put on love, because it is a choice.
I have always loved Colossians 3:23-24. Work heartily as unto the Lord, not unto men. The best advice!
Colossians 4:5 is worth a peek into the NIV translation! 🙂
