Please read Deuteronomy 21:10-23, Deuteronomy 22, 23, 24, and 25, and head on back.  What are you thinking about this morning?  Here’s what I am thinking:

Rough day… so many rules that we not have to adhere to under grace, but we still have to maintain a high standard of holiness, purity and morality.  There IS right and wrong, as much as our society would like us to forget.

  1. Ralph Madrigal says:

Couple things stood out to me during the reading.
    1. Deuteronomy 25:9, the widow must walk over to him in the presence of the elders, pull his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face. Then she must declare, ‘This is what happens to a man who refuses to provide his brother with children.’
    2. In this way you will purge the evil from among you.

I’ve always said I live the life of the glass half empty, not because I’m a negative person or looking for the foul point of view. I live the glass half empty rule because I look for the pieces of the puzzle that are missing and try to fill them in, I look for a plan “b” Incase plan “a” doesn’t work, I question all aspects of life before entering a judgement. In the two points I have numbered earlier it seems the Lord is harsh in delivering his judgement but there has to be concesqunces to our actions. Personally I’ve met up with such consequences before my Christian life.
Today’s takeaway: keep moving forward. Our promised land is in sight.
