chronological day 48 :)

Please read Leviticus 4, 5 and 6.  How about trying to find some laws that are still good advice for healthy living today?  I know we are now under the Blood of Jesus, but if you have something to look for, maybe we won’t “skim” 🙂 Come on back when you are done reading!

Here’s a few:

If you sin by not stepping up and offering yourself as a witness to something you’ve heard or seen in cases of wrongdoing, you’ll be held responsible (5:1 MSG)

When you are guilty, immediately confess the sin that you’ve committed (5:5 MSG)

When anyone sins by betraying trust with God by deceiving his neighbor regarding something entrusted to him, or by robbing or cheating or threatening him; or if he has found something lost and lies about it and swears falsely regarding any of these sins that people commonly commit—when he sins and is found guilty, he must return what he stole or extorted, restore what was entrusted to him, return the lost thing he found (6:1 MSG)

So thankful that Jesus made the final and complete sacrifice for our sins!  However, it is not to be taken for granted or taken lightly. We must confess our sins and ask for forgiveness right away! Thank You Jesus for the Blood!

In reading I understand these laws were to keep us mindful of our actions and to be obedient and love others. They were also meant to keep us clean if we are to come to the Lord. The Lord communicated these laws to Moses which in turn was written and distributed throughout the land. What I find fascinating was the blood shed and burning of the animals. I mentioned once to Pastor Spivey if today’s people lived in those times would we run out of animals to offer before we run out of sin? Thank you GOD for allowing your son to come and offer his blood to cleanse us and make us pure again. Let’s not take this blood shed for granted. How do we bridge the gap between the Old Testament and the new with Jesus being crucified on the cross. Let’s keep reading to find out.

To all. Have you ever thought about what ALL Jesus did for mankind on the cross? He didn’t hang there so once a year we could eat chocolate rabbits and eat egg salad sandwiches for the days following. HE did so many things there on Calvary. As mentioned in Ralph’s posting we no longer have a religion filled with the many Old Testament laws and rituals. To me Jesus made it so much easier to be a Christian now, we do not have to remember how many animals to “erase” our sins, All we have to remember is the ONE true sacrifice that was paid for us a long time ago. Could you imagine how religion would be today if we had to go to the temple and perform these rituals to be cleansed of our sins? Think about it, we get impatient waiting in a drive thru line at a fast food restaurant. Could you imagine the size of the line at the Temple to offer our sacrifice for the sins we committed for that day? I am not making light of the situation, I am just looking at what if’s and another view of God’s gift to us. There are way too many other benefits we all have received from this supreme sacrifice I seem to find new ones all the time. The more I study the Bible the more I take away from it. It is a “convenient” religion for us but never forget it cost Jesus his life……..At least his earthly life.
