chronological day 36 :)

Good morning! Please read Exodus chapters 13, 14, and 15, and come on back!  If you want, leave a comment about what you are thinking and let’s have a visit!

Moses and the children of Israel will finally escape from Egypt today! As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and saw them—Egyptians! Coming at them!

They were totally afraid. They cried out in terror to God. They told Moses, “Weren’t the cemeteries large enough in Egypt so that you had to take us out here in the wilderness to die? What have you done to us, taking us out of Egypt? Back in Egypt didn’t we tell you this would happen? Didn’t we tell you, ‘Leave us alone here in Egypt—we’re better off as slaves in Egypt than as corpses in the wilderness.’” (14:10-12 MSG)

Are they kidding?  Were the actually better off in Egypt?  Nothing will make you look more fondly at yesterday than a crisis today.

Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch God do his work of salvation for you today. Take a good look at the Egyptians today for you’re never going to see them again. God will fight the battle for you. (14:13-14a MSG)

Amen, Moses!  Confess the victory!  His next words don’t sound very kind, but they are powerful:

And you? You keep your mouths shut!” (14:14b MSG)

When you are in a crisis, trust the Lord to give you the strength you need to be victorious – or trust Him to handle it altogether!  Refuse to go back.

God parts the Red Sea, and Moses leads the people through safely – and he says, I’m singing my heart out to God—what a victory! He pitched horse and rider into the sea.
God is my strength, God is my song, and, yes! God is my salvation! This is the kind of God I have and I’m telling the world!” (15:1-2 MSG).  There Moses goes again, including everyone and telling the world about His mighty God!  Let’s do the same!

On that exciting note, our journey through the wilderness begins.

  1. Ralph Madrigal says:

This is what stood out to me today,
    Exodus 14:15
Then the Lord said to Moses, Why do you cry out to me? Tell the people to get moving!
GOD is at our side and the daily battles we have seem to overwhelm us at times so it’s comforting to know we have our Heavenly Father there to guide us. But when the moment to act is there pick up and make it happen, as hard as it seems. I have this struggle and this passage hits home.
    Reading further is the outcome.
    Exodus 14:31
When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that the Lord had unleashed against the Egyptians, they were filled with awe before him. They put their Faith in the Lord and in his servant Moses.
Today’s takeaway: our trust in the lord seems to leave us during questionable hard times. His loves never abandons us.
